About the Brand
Historical Lineage Meets Modern Business
Drawing inspiration from his surname, Chandler, which traces back to the Old French word chandele (meaning "candle"), Mike Chandler, alongside his wife, Kelly, founded The Savory Ember to honor his heritage. Historically, chandlers not only crafted candles but often collaborated with woodworkers to create candleholders and accessories, making woodcraft an integral part of the trade. This legacy resonated with Mike, blending his love for woodworking with their shared vision for the brand.
Mike’s passion for crafting savory soups and chilies and Kelly’s desire for warm, aroma-filled spaces inspired the Savory Ember. They reimagined Mike’s soup recipes into "savory candle scents," creating blends with smoked whiskey, red wine, leather, bacon, salted caramel, and vanilla. The brand also incorporates handcrafted wooden candle accessories that echo the artisanal traditions of chandlers.
